| Every corner of the natural world operates according to strictly determined
laws. Using scientific methods, people try to investigate these laws, but I am afraid that they have discovered perhaps only one in a thousand or one in ten thousand of all the laws of nature. It seems that the law that people of today want to discover most urgently is the law of destiny. People try to seek it in religions, or learn it from their experience. For example, nowadays, it is common knowledge that if you act self-centeredly you will risk the prosperity you enjoy in your business life and the happiness of family life. Everyone also knows that if you please others in both business and family situations, you will receive pleasure in return. This common knowledge has not been proven scientifically, but people come to understand it is as common sense through experience. Many people are acquiring the principle of "help yourself by helping others" as a fundamental wisdom for living. There is another basic law that is widely recognized as an important part of life's wisdom. It is the simple words, "thank you" -- used to express appreciation. If you say, "Thank you" to another person and feel that you have been helped, then that person has helped others. This process is a good example of the operation of the principle of "help yourself by helping others." By simply following the principle of "help yourself by helping others," and showing gratitude to others, people can help others' destiny. This fact prompts me to conclude that many people unconsciously understand this law and practice it. You can help others by just expressing your gratitude to them. And when you help someone, you help yourself as well. So, there are no greater words than "Thank you." That's why they are the most frequently spoken words in the world, I believe. |
