| The best attitude in this world is that of helping others and of gratitude. The worst attitude in this world is that of defeating others and of holding a grudge. Forgetting onefs own interests and working selflessly in the service of others is extremely difficult. Yet, when you have brought joy to another person and, on top of that, you receive an expression of gratitude, not only do you feel glad for what you have done, your desire to serve others becomes even greater. On the other hand, if you self-centeredly seek to defeat others, the other party is never able to be patient and has no choice but to fight or harbor a grudge. If it is true that the human will has the power to alter the destiny of other persons, there is nothing more frightening than that. Through physical conflict and mutual grudges both parties will end up destroying each other and disappearing from the world. But when two parties support and appreciate each other, it is certain that the fortunes of both will flourish. This, I believe, is because gratitude is a form of humbly respecting others -- a form of prayer or worship. If mental forces do have an influence on others, it is only natural that good fortune will visit upon both parties. The most fearful thing in this world, more fearful than a normal grudge, is to hold a grudge against someone to whom you should feel indebted. This is borne from a mindset with which you, presuming upon the benefactor, turn your eyes from those things for which you must thank him and see only those things you donft like and get angry and hold a grudge against the benefactor. I donft think the day will never come when a serious breakdown arises in the course of your destiny and your life will then become a disaster. |
| It is said that it is only when people begin raising their own children that they can begin to appreciate his debt of obligation they owe their own parents. I believe that if children, after being spoilt, hold grudges against their parents, then they will have no future prospects. |
