The difference between animals and humans

Have you ever thought about what the differences between human beings and animals are?
The answer is, I think, that human beings leave records, reflect on the past and make improvements, have intelligence, have a sense of shame, laugh, feel gratitude, are considerate of our parents, believe in Gods, and so forth.
I have learned that certain qualities, such as joy, harmony, effort and sympathy can also be found in the world of animals.
However, if humans possess only the kinds of qualities that animals also have, they will only be able to be as happy as animals.
If human beings possess many wonderful qualities that animals do not have, then they will surely be all the more happy.
On the other hand, if humans have only the quality of self-centeredness which is inferior to the qualities of animals, I believe that though we might do well for some time, our happiness will never be able to continue for long.
If we cultivate many good qualities and display them in a balanced way, these efforts will certainly bear fruit, and we will be blessed with happiness according to the amount of our effort.
It is hoped that we would reflect on how many superior qualities not found in animals we possess.
Even by trying to smile a little more often and seeking even slightly more opportunities to feel gratitude, I believe happiness will surely come to us more often.
Why not try to live a life with the resolution to smile and to feel gratitude at least once a day, and see how it changes your life!

Love is the secret for becoming happy.
Gratitude is the secret for attaining longevity.
Excitement is the secret for preventing ugly aging.
